Michelle L. Boutin is an associate attorney at RCO Legal – Alaska, Inc. She has been practicing in Alaska since 1986 and focuses on commercial litigation and lender representation in complex bankruptcy matters. She clerked for the U.S. Bankruptcy Judge in 1986 – 88, was head of the FDIC legal department for Alaska from 1989 – 1993, and has been in private practice in Alaska since then, joining RCO in 2013. She has worked on most every major bankruptcy case in Alaska and has litigated lien rights over aircraft, vessels, timber, oil rigs, mining claims, and commercial property. She is currently active in chapter 11 creditor representation in Alaska’s first “mega” bankruptcy case.
Michelle is a past attorney representative from Alaska to the 9th Circuit Judicial Conference, past board member of the Anchorage Bar Association and is currently chair of the Bankruptcy section of the Alaska Bar. She was named by Best Lawyers in 2012 as the Lawyer of the year for Bankruptcy Litigation, Alaska. She was the 2014 recipient of the Alaska Bar Association Board of Governors Award for Professionalism. She was recently a speaker at the 8th Annual Alaska Construction Law Conference speaking on Bankruptcy and Insolvency in Construction Projects.
